Bad Nature

Multidisciplinary Order tickets

Imagine this: you’re walking through the forest to relax and clear your mind… until a mosquito ruins your mood. Sound familiar? The new dance performance Bad Nature dives right into this contradiction: while we long for nature, we constantly find ourselves at odds with its untamed aspects.

The bond between humans and nature has always been fundamental, yet modern societies often seem to have lost that connection. As we seek comfort in nature, we can also become frustrated by its small inconveniences. In collaboration with the Australasian Dance Collective, Club Guy & Roni explore the contrast between a nostalgia for a slower, natural world and a fascination with emerging technologies that are shaping our future.

Bad Nature highlights different cultural approaches to this universal theme and creates a dialogue between these perspectives. How have environmental changes in Australia influenced the relationship with nature? Can technological advancement foster a more harmonious coexistence with the natural world?

“Bad Nature is a production that helps us understand our relationship with nature – our need to dominate it, but also our nature as people towards each other. We’d like to look at more ancient relationships, in which nature was animated, had a spirit, and we could interact with it as an equal.”

— Guy Weizman, artistiek directeur Club Guy & Roni

Bad Nature is the latest performance in The Human Odyssey: a series of international collaborations by Club Guy & Roni and HIIIT with dance companies and music ensembles outside of Europe. The performances explore different facets of the human experience, while redefining the stories we construct about each other and the world around us.
